I don’t know if you’ve heard of chocolate lasagna, but I will share with you the ingredients and steps.
- Oreo crumbs
- Melted butter
- Cream Cheese
- Whipped Cream
- Chocolate syrup
- Chocolate chips or curls (optional)
First, you crush the oreos through a food processor, turning them into crumbs. Then you mix them with the butter, put it in a pan, and chill it in the refrigerator.
Next you make the pudding, mix the cream cheese and whipped cream together, and alternate layers on top of the oreo crust in the pan.
Finally, you top the chocolate lasagna with oreo crumbs, chocolate syrup, and chocolate chips.
Although you won’t cook anything on the stove or in the oven or microwave, you will need to chill the dessert several times. Otherwise, the structure will fall apart.
I’ve made this dish with two different recipes. One was spaceshipsandlaserbeams(dot)com and the other site was southernliving(dot)com.
The previous recipe had turned out better, when I’d made it in April 2020. One technique it called for was mixing vanilla and chocolate pudding together. It gives it a sweeter taste, which had pleased me when I’d made it.
The one from Southern Living tasted fine, too. However, it gave me reflux for some reason. Maybe because I did not follow the recipe exactly and some mysterious ingredient I used didn’t agree with my stomach.
Perhaps, it could have been the coffee grounds I’d accidentally put in the middle of the layers, thinking they were crushed oreos. I’d forgotten that I had left my oreo crumbs in a plastic cup, and had used coffee grounds from a container in my kitchen. Despite my worries, it didn’t ruin the treat. Rather, it enhanced the flavor a bit, giving it a mild mocha taste.
